Jens Maurits Bouttery: when a young jazz drummer steals the show…

In Artist of the Month, jazz on June 9, 2014 at 4:39 pm

Dear friends,

It’s my pleasure to share with you a portrait of a young Belgian jazz drummer, because when an excellent drummer steals the show, it has to be underlined ! 🙂

Born in Belgium in 1988, he has completed his master degree in 2011 in the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, but before ending his studies, he already won the 2nd price of Dexia Classics Contest for percussion (2006)! Five years later, he also won the price for best solo player at the Brussels Jazz Marathon XLJazz Contest 2011 and finally the Toots Thielemans Jazz Award 2011 for school career and final project “The Dubtapes”.

Winning awards is a good thing but setting fire on the stage requires great art that Jens obtained with is double formation: theater (he won also several awards in this art).

Now just listen to him and enjoy !

  1. The kid is really good. Thanks for sharing! Do you know if there are records out with him on? I could not find anything on his web page.

  2. Dear Jazztraveler, I’m sure he will appreciate your comment :-). The best way to answer your question is to ask him directly: info@jensbouttery.com . He is very friendly. In your email message, I think it should be better to refer to this article on the blog, he knows that I have written something on him. Enjoy your day and thank you so much for following my (rare) posts! CĂ©line
